In profound recognition of her decade of invaluable contribution as founding chairperson of the Open Society Foundation of Lithuania, Mr. George Soros has decided to honor Professor Irena Veisate by endowment of the annual Veisaite Visiting Lectureship at the Center for Stateless Cultures at Vilnius University, History Faculty. The Fellowship enables a talented scholar to come to Lithuania to teach an accredited course in Stateless Culture Studies each year.
The first Veisaite visiting lecturer was Dr. Yves Plasseraud, who gave the course Introduction to Minority Studies in the Fall 2001/2002.
